Coca Cola InterCol kicks off Wednesday

The Secondary Schools Football League’s (SSFL) Coca Cola-sponsored InterCol knockout competition will kick off on Wednesday.

The SSFL also expects the 2012 tournament to be much more competitive this year, with more than just the coveted InterCol title at stake.

The winners of the Coca-Cola InterCol Tournament 2012 will not be crowned national champions, but will also represent Trinidad and Tobago in the 2013 Copa Coca-Cola.

A release from sponsors Coca-Cola said the soft drink company will provide assistance to the SSFL to cover functional cost for the InterCol tournament and drinks from its beverage portfolio, which include Coca-Cola, Powerade, Dasani and other brands.

According to brand franchise manager at Coca-Cola Roberto Lapeira, “Football is one of the most beloved sports in the world. The passion, the exhilaration and support shown by people across the globe provide us with the best platform to connect with fans and show our own love for the game.

“We are proud to help create and sustain a foundation for quality football within the Secondary Schools of Trinidad and Tobago and re-assure our commitment to endorsing healthy & physically active lifestyles,” Lapeira added.

The SSFL has also thanked Coca Cola for their continued support since 2010.

“The Secondary Schools Football League is elated to once again receive much needed sponsorship from Coca-Cola to continue working toward football excellence with our nation’s youth,” the release stated.

“The excitement will continue throughout the month of November with the national final to be held on November 30th.”
